Minister Ameen departs for Oman to take part in the “WHO Global meeting”

Minister of Health, Mr. Abdulla Ameen departs for Oman to take part in the “WHO Global Meeting to Accelerate progress towards SDG Target 3.4 on Non communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health”. This meeting was organized by World health Organization (WHO) and by the Ministry of Health of Sultanate of Oman.

During this meeting, Ministers of health and other high-level officials from various other countries are in Muscat to deliberate on ways to accelerate the implementation of national responses to address NCDs and mental health conditions with a view to reduce premature mortality and scale up innervations to reach SDG target 3.4 by 2030.  

The main objectives of this meeting will be to implement a set of priority interventions that will put their countries on a sustainable path to attain SDG target 3.4 on NDCs and mental health by 2030. In addition, to fulfill the commitments made by heads of state and government in the political declarations of the UN General Assembly adopted in 2011, 2014 and 2018.

During the meeting, Minister of health, Mr. Abdulla Ameen will be address successes in addressing NCDs. He will also highlight on controlling of marketing of unhealthy foods and drinks to children, implementation of BMS code, climate change and sea level rise.

“WHO Global Meeting to Accelerate progress towards SDG Target 3.4 on Non communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health” will be hosted from 9 to 12th December in Muscat.
