Legal age to buy cigarettes now 21 in the USA

Authorities will start acting on the bill during the next 9 months.

The Senate passed the bill regarding the prohibition on sales of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21, on last Friday. The media in the US reports that authorities will start acting on the bill during the next 9 months.

President of the campaign “tobacco-free kids”, an anti-tobacco advocacy group, Matthew Myers, stated that raising the age to 21 is a positive step in this case.

He noted that underage youth vaping increased sharply in the past two years, even with a minimum legal age of 18.

During last November, Center for Disease Control (CDC) in USA declared that the death poll of Lung diseases caused by E-cigarettes raised to 47 in 2019. Following this, President Donald Trump has promised to ban some flavors of E- Cigarettes in the market.
