Velaa Private Island donates MVR 250,000 to three NGOs

In celebration of the 6th Anniversary of Velaa Private Island, the company has donated MVR 250,000 to three NGOs. According to Velaa, the three NGOs were Thalassemia Society, Care Society and Cancer Society, and this is the second consecutive year that they have donated.

Speaking about the donation, Thalassemia Society said that such donations by private companies is important to sustain the work that the NGO has been doing.

The NGO which was formed in 1994, said that this is an opportunity to work for equal rights for people with thalassemia. Thalassemia Society also thanked and expressed their gratitude to Velaa Private Island for this generous donation.

Care Society was also thankful for the remarkable donation and said that this donation gives them the opportunity to help many others in need. Moreover, it allows the NGO to also strengthen their programs and services, and help them reach the most vulnerable community with disabilities.

After the ceremony, Cancer Society said that such contributions make it possible for them to conduct their activities to achieve the goals, and to reduce the impact of cancer in our communities.

Furthermore, they also highlighted the impact of the donation by Velaa last year. According to the NGO, last year, screening and awareness sessions were held in 18 islands and 6 institutions in Male’. They were able to do more than 4,800 screenings in this period of time.
