China’s first emergency coronavirus hospital opens

The first emergency coronavirus hospital has opened just 48 hours after construction began. The hospital has a capacity of treating 1000 patients at once.

Volunteers have managed to open the new Dabie Mountain Regional Medical Centre which is located in Huanggang City, which is about 75 kilometers to the south west if Wuhan. The first batch of patients tested positive for coronavirus has been transferred to the hospital yesterday morning.

The new hospital is one of four planned to be established by the authorities to combat the deadly virus. Authorities stated that the hospital was initially planned to open in May.

Novel coronavirus originated in the city of Wuhan, and the greatest number of cases reported so far have been from the Hubei Province of the city.

The virus which affects the respiratory system has been found in 17 countries. The cases reported have been rising each day and the latest reports suggest that it has risen to nearly 6,000, with 132 confirmed dead.
